TESTER of the chip UC3843 & similar pinout ICs WITH VISUAL CONTROL + ZENER / TVS/ TL431 reference TESTER PWM-TEST3843
The UC3843 series PWM controller chip is one of the most common when building power supplies. Very often, the UC3843 series microcircuit can fail due to incorrect device operation or electric shock damage. How to check the health of the UC3843 series microcircuit? Did the pulse-width controller of the UC3843 series damaged? If the chip does not work and does not start, then you can find out with the help of the chip tester of the UC3843 series from the company PWM TEST3843.
The device is a tester of a large number of similar microcircuits with the same pin layout and allows you to detect defective and fake UC3843 microcircuits and the like. Very often, UC3843 series chips from China are defective or simply fake. For such fake chips, a separate unit may not work, or, for example, generation is not stable. There are frequent variants of incorrect labeling of microcircuits, when a microcircuit with a switching voltage of 16 volts UC3842 is marked as a 8.5 volt UC3843 microcircuit. Of course, this chip will not work at low voltage. Tester PWM-TEST3843 allows you to check this issue.
We recommend checking even the new UC3843 series chips for performance. Even the original semiconductor integrated from famous brands can be damaged by static voltage during transportation. The PWM-TEST3843 allows you to check a chip simply, quickly and with visual control. Even without an oscilloscope. If you have an oscilloscope, you can check the quality and operation parameters. But usually visual inspection with LEDs is enough.
The PWM UC3843 IC Chip Tester is available in two versions:
1. The DIY version of the device for self-assembling. This version comes in the form of parts and a set of electronic components for assembling the device. It is necessary to solder the electronic components on the printed circuit board, twist and assemble the details of the device.
2. The READY version of the device assembled by the PWM company and is ready for use
The device's online documentation & manuals
The PWM company provide two manuals for this testing tool at company's website http://pwm.company. You can find all information using the model name TEST3843:
1. DIY assembling manual
2. Testing & using manual
The main functions of the TEST3843 tool:
1. IC UC3843 series tester & generator with regulated frequency & duty cycle regulation
2. On board voltage generator 4.5V-30V with voltage regulation & voltmeter on board. 4A input current MAXIMUM.
3. Tester of zeners 27V max / Tester of TVS diodes/ Tester of adjustable zener IC TL431

The testing tool provide testing of the main blocks of UC3843 series chips:
1. PWM output generation block test. Visual LED testing & external oscilloscope test modes.
2. Reference voltage (aprox. 5V) regulator block test
3. Frequency regulation test
4. Duty cycle regulation
5. Voltage feedback comparator testing
UC3843 series chips output can be tested in two modes:
1. visual mode with LED blinking in low frequencies mode (SW2 switch should be pressed ON)
2. oscilloscope mode, using external oscilloscope
Tester of zeners 27V max / Tester of TVS diodes/ Tester of adjustable zener IC TL431
The device can test the reference voltage and display the result of stabilization at the voltmeter on the board. 27V ZENER & TVS MAX can be tested.
Powering of the tester
The AC-DC power adapter is not included. For the powering of the device you can use any DC adapter or any DC power source 10V-20V and with minimum 0.3A output current. The connector type: male DC Power Jack 5.5x2.1mm (DC-005 Jack). Do not exceed 22V input voltage. Power the device from current limited 8A MAXIMUM source & protected from mains for the safety reason.

|Tested chip's description||The UC3842 (UC3843) chip is a PWM controller with current and voltage feedback for controlling a key stage on an n-channel MOS transistor, providing its input capacitance with a forced current of up to 0.7A. Chip SMPS controller is a series of chips UC384X (UC3843, UC3844, UC3845) PWM controllers. The UC3842 core is specially designed for long-term operation with a minimum number of external discrete components. The PWM controller UC3842 is characterized by precise control of the operating cycle, temperature compensation and low cost. A feature of UC3842 is the ability to work within 100% of the working cycle (for example, the UC3844 works with a fill factor of up to 50%.). Power supplies made on the UC3843 microcircuit are distinguished by increased reliability and simplicity of execution. Variants of this IC, produced by different manufacturers, may differ in the prefixes, but necessarily contain the core 3842, 3843, 3844. The microcircuit is available in SOIC-8 and SOIC-14 packages, but in most cases it is modified in the DIP-8 package.|
